French national, Nicolas Payen has 15 years of experience in both engineering and marketing/commercial leadership roles. His deep-tech journey started in 2008 as the co-founder of a start-up named Efficient Home looking after the emerging market of the Smart Homes / Smart Grid for Schneider-Electric. In 2012 he released the connected residential energy management system named WISER. This connected solution was then deployed in the largest French Smart Grid pilot.
In 2013, he moved to Hong-Kong to head the Smart Space Category for the Asia Pacific and to lead the deployment of a channel partner program for the building technology’s system integrators of Schneider Electric. In March 2016, he became the Global Head of Internet of Things for MANN+HUMMEL, where he lead an Innovation Lab and a Global Competency Centre on smart devices, digital services, big data, and AR/VR. In April 2017, Nicolas created the Future Economy Studio – a digital ventures building company in Singapore. Positive Energy.Community Venture was incubated at the same Studio in Singapore.
Vincent Bakker is a Dutch national with 10 years of experience in complex energy investments. He has been on all sides of projects (acquisitions, divestments and organic growth projects), in all phases (from identification and screening, to operate, to decommissioning) in a variety of roles. He has negotiated with commercial parties as well as governments, set up financial systems within joint ventures and did due diligence and deal structuring. His result orientated and fit for purpose approach is supported by strong analytical and modelling skills.
Vincent has a MSc. in Financial Engineering & Management and is accredited Chartered Global Management Accountant. He has moved to Singapore in 2014 and worked for projects in Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines and Kazakhstan.
Jinn Lim is a corporate lawyer with 20 years’ experience, more than half of which have been spent working in the Energy sector working on large-scale oil, gas and commodities projects at BP and Gunvor (Big 5 Oil Trader), with a stint at the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) in between. She has extensive experience in long-term sale and purchase projects, one of which was valued at USD100bn, project finance, investments in terminals and refineries, including projects valued at USD10bn, structured trade finance, listings, tenders, disputes, criminal prosecutions, regulatory and sanctions investigations, compliance and risk management.
In the early years of her career, Jinn cut her teeth on corporate finance projects in leading law firms, before joining the mergers and acquisitions department of Allianz Insurance Management where she negotiated acquisitions and strategic alliances with banks and insurers across Asia in the wake of the Asian Financial Crisis.
Jinn is currently a Director at Positive Energy.Community Pte Ltd.

As an accomplished banker and the general manager of an overseas bank branch, Ralf Schmidt direct the Asian business – Singapore, Hong Kong, Shanghai – through leadership, development and implementation of strategy and business; at the same time ensuring sustainability, resilience, a high level of governance, compliance, transparency and trust for all different stakeholders, like customers, local and home regulators and authorities, the Board, peers from other offices, shareholders etc.
To lead and manage an entity, his curious entrepreneurial and leadership spirit is as important as his in-depth experience of managing, developing and working hands-on in different core areas of the business.
The first 15 years of his banking career in Germany and Singapore provided him with an excellent foundation in the various aspects of banking, especially relationship management, risk management and operations. He has acquired extensive and in-depth expertise in asset and project finance. Assisting customers to realize their goals drives him to contribute through analyzing their requirements and structuring solutions to advance their business and mitigate risks. Already in his early years in Singapore he built up and managed a well-diversified portfolio of EUR 1 bn from scratch.
As honorary Hamburg Ambassador in Singapore having a platform to foster cross-regional and cultural collaborations motivates him further. Various companies, institutions and organisations in SEA and Hamburg draw upon his expertise and connections for possible partnerships and development of their business in SEA or Hamburg. Additionally, he also spends time being involved with start-ups in the financial and shipping industry and the renewable energy space in various roles as mentor, director or investor.
